From the recording Stones

Lyrics

she lays on her back in the passing wind
with the moon, stars and spot light shining
glowing and reflecting on ivory skin
telling the tale of rising and falling

there's a little black book with pages torn
stains on the cover where fresh ink formed
dragons to be slayed with a lashing tongue
butterflies and brambles in the noon day sun

there's a pile of receipts waded into balls
in a box of kindling
one fire at a time erasing history
from light to smoke to creosote in the chimney

she said take my hand don't be afraid
I said I've never been scared but unsure of everything
passing winds of time and change
leave me hungry for what I got and yesterday

now I'm sleeping in a bed with too many pillows
loosing comfort found on a hard wood floor
searching for muses out in the cold
searching for something before I get too old

Times has got a funny way of being
it's never seen until it's too late to be seen
like a finished drink with your ice melting
cleansing your glass of a memory
the back of your tongue starts to believe
but you know it's all done in reality
